Final Reflection: Assignment 30

The most formative experience I had in class was watching the lectures. I truly learned a lot of running a business, Pryor taught with passion and it helped me to take in all the information better. The experience that I will remember for years to come would probably be making the videos for the elevator pitch assignment. After so many trials, I kept being persistent until I got a video that was presentable. The most joyous experience in this class was all the positive feedback from the idea I came up with. The part I am most proud of from this class would probably be having the courage to interview people that I have never met before. This really helped me step out of my comfort zone. I do see myself becoming an entrepreneur with the new mindset I have. Learning what it takes to run a business in this class really opened my eyes to what my future might look like as an entrepreneur. Venture Concept No. 2: Assignment 29

Opportunity:  The traditional way of straightening your teeth is by getting braces where the treatment could take about 2 years, more or less. Having braces could also lead to bullying and increase the risk of low self-esteem. In recent years, a new way of achieving the same results without using metals was created called  Invisalign . This is treatment is for small changes only and can't be used to change the overbite. This is where I saw the opportunity to create something that could avoid bullying and could make major changes to your mouth structure. The "window of opportunity" is always going to be there because it is an unmet "need" that needs to be solved.  Innovation:  The device I invented would be placed on kids that already have their facial teeth showing. Reading reflection No.3 : Assignment 27

One thing that surprised me most about Phil Knight is that he went on a trip around the world, stopped by Japan and left with a whole business after contacting Mr. Onitsuka, CEO of Tiger brand, and got distribution rights to sell these shoes in the US. I admired that Phil had no fear of failing, he had an idea and went for it without a second thought in his mind. I couldn't find a trait that I didn't admire about Phil Knight, he was a hard-headed person and never looked back at any decision he made. Phil encountered failures many times and every time he failed, he didn't dwell on it. Instead, he moved on to his next spontaneous idea. Phil Knight had many competencies suck as communication. He was able to communicate his plan well enough to have his mentor, Bill Bowerman, become his partner in his new business. Your Exit Strategy: Assignment 28

1)If my business is financially stable with a good record, I plan on keeping the business until something new comes around and I would probably adjust and invent something new. My father currently has a business and he is planning on passing it down to my sister, so I also plan on making this a family business and hopefully one day when I have kids, one of them will want to continue the business. 2)I want to have a family business because there is trust and loyalty within each other. We would also be able to envision long-term goals and have commitment towards the business 3)I don't think my exit strategy has influenced my concept because as of right now I don't have any kids to worry about but after doing this assignment, it got me thinking of having a family business one day. Hopefully, with the family business, we are able to save money on expenditures and when the kids are old enough, they can help around the office with small tasks.

Celebrating Failure: Assignment 26

This past semester has actually been one of my toughest semesters yet. It's my first "real" semester here in UF (summer semester is different) and I'm trying to balance clubs, volunteering, new friends and 17 credits of classes. My toughest class has been inorganic chemistry, and at this point, I just want to pass the class. I did well on the first quiz, but when it came to the second one, the professor quizzed us on material we weren't prepared for. Everyone studied the homework because that's what he said the quizzes were going to be on and we got quizzed on something that he said we didn't have to memorize yet were supposed to know it on the quiz. After getting my score back and finding out that I failed that quiz (first quiz that I have ever failed in my life), I wanted to cry but I knew I had to change somethings about my studying. What's next: Assignment 25

Existing Market.  Step 1 : After getting my product out there and marketing it in dental offices, my next plan is to make small events for children to learn more about dentistry so that they don't get scared of going for every check-up. This could maybe be a fundraising event to raise money for the underserved areas and give them dental care.  Step 2: In my first interview, James suggested I come up with a new device that he liked to call "the smart toothbrush" this toothbrush helps you brush every part of your teeth by telling you which parts you might have missed. After telling them my idea (states in step 1), all three interviewees agreed and would definitely bring their kids to have fun and learn. In my second interview, Sara stated that my current business idea is great and that I should make sure my clients stay with me throughout the process since the treatment lasts until all teeth are "adults".
