Reading Reflection No. 2 : Assignment 21

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book? - The book I chose was How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Scott Adams. The general theme of the book is that all need to be successful is energy, a system, and it doesn't matter how much you fail in life. The author believes that it is better to be good at multiple things rather than to be excellent in one. 2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? - One similar topic that I learned in both the book and in the ENT 3003 is how to present yourself. Its all about what you wear, what you say, and how you say it. The book also emphasizes that failing is okay and Dr. Pryor also says that we use moments and learn from them. 3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? - I would design an exercise where you can list your mediocre skills and find a way to use them that could help you build a bus...

She has been a dentist for over 30 years and has seen how dentistry has changed because of the inventions in technology. 2. A description of how you found the person and contacted the person. - The person I contacted is the dentist I am currently shadowing when ever I go home for a break. I found her through my Dad that has a friend who is a dentist assistant and knows Dr.Montero. 4. The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation? - She answered my questions about how to market the dental service and ...

Idea Napkin No.2 Assignment 19

1. I don’t really consider myself a person with many talents. But if I had to find one talent of mine it would be a good listener. Some people don’t consider that a talent but not everyone is truly good at listening, because they could either get distracted or just not care about what the other person is talking about. In regards to my product, have good fine-motor skills which will allow me to make the device unique for everyone’s different type of teeth structure. If this business were to actually happen in my life, then I would dedicate half of my time developing it while also seeing my regular clients 2. I am offering the ability to get straight teeth without having to go through the pain and stress of braces. The device will be placed in the patient's mouth as soon as the adult teeth start showing in the front 4 teeth on the maxilla and mandibular bones. The instrument will only be worn at night so that is not a bother while walking around in public. 3. I am offering this to c...

Elevator pitch #2 Assignment 17

What surprised me most about my first elevator pitch was that people actually thought it was good. The most useful comment I got was to speak louder because it was a little hard to hear me and to add more content because it was on the short end of a normal length elevator pitch. Based on my feedback, I added more substance for my pitch. It was easier to do this now that I changed my product because I am more interested in the new product that I came up with than I was with the last one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acWnnD8AfC4

Creating a customer Avatar: Assignment 18

My customer loves spending time with her husband and kids, she has two children and none are adopted. She drives a blue SUV so that there is a seat for everyone in her family. She doesn’t have much time to read but when she does she likes reading romantic novels in her free time when the kids are at school. She is 43 a year old stay-at-home mom but feels very young and likes to live life with no regrets. I based off my customer on how I would have liked my life to look like if I didn’t choose to be a dentist. We have many things in common such as loving time with the family. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I have things in common with my imaginary customer because I also would like for my kids to have this opportunity of having their teeth grow straight and not having to deal with braces.

Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2 Assignment 15

—> In all my interviews, price was not the most important aspect in deciding whether or not to buy it, instead it was quality. Interviewee#1 wanted her teeth to be straight when she was younger, more than anything because she had very low self esteem growing up, so is hopes that derive will help her children not have to go through this stage of life. The three people that I interviewed didn’t care about style because the device would be worn at night so they won;t be seen in public while wearing it. Interviewee #2 stated that another important aspect of deciding whether or not to buy the device is the duration. She is worried that her son would have to wear the device for more than 5 years until the teeth have learned where they to be. I assured her that this device would only be worn the first 2 years after all baby teeth have fallen and the adult teeth have appeared.  —> My segments are more likely to buy the device in a dentist office, where the dentist recommends th...

Halfway reflection: Assignment 14

1)  Tenaciousness is a competency.  What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?  - I have used my time management skills to keep up with the requirements of this course. I am currently taking 17 credits including anatomy, inorganic, two lab courses, and another online class, so I barely have had time for myself lately, to say the least. When I want to take a break from my rigorous chemistry courses, I go to this class and get the assignments done at least a couple days before the due date (most of the time) to not stress out if I leave it for the last minute.  2)  Tenaciousness is also about attitude.  Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? - I felt like giving up when it came to the elevator pitch v...

Reading reflection No.1 : Assignment 13

I chose to read the biography of Steve Jobs. While reading, w hat surprised me the most about him is that he did not get his first big earning from Apple, he actually started making a lot of money when he made a deal with Disney to be apart of Pixar's initial public offering. The quality of Steve Jobs that I admired the most was his passion for his dreams. He had so much perseverance that he overcame any challenges that came his way. One aspect of Steve Jobs that I wasn't fond of was that one of the reasons he chose "Apple" as the name for his company was because it was in front of "Atari" in the phonebook. He had previously worked with "Atari" and he didn't want his customers seeing "Atari" first.  Steve Jobs' most famous failure was getting fired from  Apple in 1985, and instead of giving up he started two new projects to reach towards his goals.  While reading the biography, I noticed a competency   that he had which was mo...

Idea Napkin No.1: Assignment 11

Hello, My name is Sandra Avila. I transferred to UF this past summer and my major is Biochemistry with a minor in nutritional science. I am on the pre-dental track and one day I hope to own my own practice. My talents include spinning flags, rifles, and sabres (I used to be in the competitive Colorguard team at UCF). I believe I have leadership skills, perseverance, communication skills, and good time-management skills. I wouldn't start the business idea that I have mentioned before on my blog but, as I mentioned earlier, I do want to own a practice when I finally become a dentist and specialize in orthodontics. This business could help me, help others boost their confidence with a better smile.  With an orthodontic practice, I can help patients have a "perfect" smile which will then, in turn, make them feel confident about themselves. The smile is one of the things a person notices about someone, so having a good smile can help build valuable connections with people. ...
